Enthiran To Beat Hollywood's Avatar

Movies like Jurassic Park, Predator and Avatar made history because of their out-of-the-box theme and realistic portrayal of fictitious characters or extinct animal forms. The animatronix technology used in these movies surpassed all expectations, with Avatar outdoing the other two by a huge margin.

One of the studios behind this very elaborate animatronix process is Stan Wisdom Studios. And now we hear that it’s the very same company that has created the robot-avatar of our Super Star in Enthiran!

A robot modelled on Rajinikanth right from his skin tone has been created for director Shankar’s Enthiran by Stan Wisdon Studios, besides many other such electronic wonders that we will find in the movie.

Technicians at the studio have supposedly remarked that even in Hollywood they have not worked on a movie that has given scope for them to use every bit of the technology they have, as has Enthiran! Tamil Cinema, has indeed come a long way in terms of technology and we sure do hope that the movie is worth the wait and the crores!

Asin’s Issue Is Now Serious

‘Past is past’ might be the new motto of ‘Nadigar Sangam’. What prompted them to take up the whole issue and dig up the extreme?

I just heard that Radharavi and Sathyaraj have dropped out Asin’s issue once and for all.. impromptu it has sprouted once again.

Saving up the day, a final declaration was made that ‘south Indian film federation’ is the only organization to suspend and denigrate artistes who have travelled towards Srilanka. In accordance with this view, the ‘producers association’ has also decided a similar thought on that.

Saina Nehwal Selected For Khel Ratna Award

India’s ace shuttler Saina Nehwal was on Friday selected for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, the country’s sporting honour, for her oustanding achievements on the badminton court.

National sports awards (Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna and Dhyan Chand) selection committee headed by P.T. Usha met here on Friday and decided to bestow the Khel Ratna on Saina after considering her brilliant performance in the last one year.
The World No. 2 Indian has been in red-hot form in the last one year, where she reached the semifinals of the All England Super Series in March before winning three successive titles in June.

“I am really happy. It’s unbelievable, a dream come true for me to get another within one year. National awards gives you a lot of motivation and it definitely has inspired me to achieve bigger glories for my country,” Saina said.

“I have done well in the last two years and the three titles that I won recently have really boosted my confidence. I am now preparing for the World Championship and I hope to win the title,” she added.

Saina was awarded the Arjuna Award last year and recently she was chosen as one of the six brand ambassador for the Commonwealth Games which will be held here from October 3-14.

National coach and her mentor Pullela Gopichand also heaped praise on his protege and said it is the result of her hard work that she achieved the award.

“Its really a great news. She deserves the award. She had a fantastic last two years and she has put a lot of hard work and the sort of believe she has on herself, I’m confident she will achieve much more in her career,” Gopichand said.

Gopichand said next month’s World badminton Championship will be a test for Saina as it would decide if she can reach the numero uno status.

“She is world number two now and the number one status will depend on her feat in the World Championship because, the other two important tournaments likw Commonwealth Games and Asian Games unfortunately doesn’t count in ranking,” he said.

The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award was given jointly to the trio of Olympic bronze medallist boxer Vijender Singh, wrestler Sushil Kumar and four-time World champion woman pugilist MC Mary Kom last year.

The award, to be given away on August 29 by the President Pratibha Patil, consists of a cash amount of Rs 7.5 lakh, a scroll of honour and medal.

Namitha Is Donning A Vamp Role

Namitha is donning a vamp role in the film Ilaignyan which has Pa Vijay in the lead role. The film has the story and dialogues of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Namitha was introduced in the Tamil film Engal Anna.

After this she continued to act in many films including Aye, Chanakya and Aanai. The last film which she had acted in Tamil was Guru Shishyan which had Sundar C in the lead role. Now she is currently acting in the Tamil film Ilaignyan, in a Telugu and Kannada film.

Now she has reduced her weight by rigorous exercises and strict diet. Meera Jasmine, Ramya Nambeesan, Kushboo and Suman are also acting in Ilaignyan. The shooting of the film is taking place in Sriperambadur.

Namitha who is donning the vamp role in this film says, “I am donning the role of a worst woman. I am requesting my fans not to hate me after seeing this film. I am not the same character in real life. Hence I once again request not to hate me.”

Pakistan Cricketer Mohammed Asif In Indian Film

Kaithpram Damodharan Namboothiri is busy with his first directorial venture Mazhavillinu Attam Vare. He has penned the screen play, lyrics and dialogue for this film. Pakistan fast bowler Mohammed Asif is going to play the lead role.

The story begins with the arrival of a Pakistan cricket player at Kannur in a coaching camp as a coach. When he travels from Lahore to Kerala, he has a personal mission too, and the story develops with the achievement of his goal.

Kaithapram's son Deepanguran will tune the music for his father's lyrics. Five songs, which include a Ghazal, will be mixed at London based studio. Prominent playback singers Yesudas, Sanker Mahadevan, Udit Narayan, K.S Chithra, Shreya Ghoshal and Deepanguran have rendered the songs.

The film is produced by A. Mukundan, a Sharjah based business man, under the banner of Valuvankadavu Creations. Its shooting will begin in September at Ezhimala and Valluvankadu Muthappan gramam.

Endhiran Audio CD Cover First Look

While the audio launch function of Endhiran (on July 31 in Kuala Lumpur) is garnering much attention already, to add more specialties, the function will have the Chief Minister delivering a recorded congratulatory message.

Recording of the message was held at the Kalaignar TV studios recently in Chennai. This message will be screened alongside the keynote address at the audio launch event.

As per the producer’s (SUN Pictures) wish CM is delivering a message. The function which is said to be celebrated in a very grand manner is expected to be graced with lots of VVIPs.

We also hear that Endhiran, which has Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead, was at the back of Shankar’s mind for almost 10 years.”Though Shankar had written the script and story for Endhiran 10 years ago, he wasn’t sure if he could pull off such a huge film at that time.

And after completing Sivaji, he thought it was time to start work on his dream project. Surprisingly, he found the script still fresh and thought the audience would be able to relate to it even if it is released now.

The film has a scientific background and since movies like Terminator and Avatar ran successfully even in villages, Shankar was sure they would accept his Endhiran as well,” adds the source.

Finally she had to succumb to her fate. Recently out of imprisonment, Nayanthara has been flaunting away her experiences behind bars in an Ashram in Bangalore. Yeah! Very much true, I could never believe the moment my ears sucked the issue. Shocking, but true! Nayan was behind bars in her latest movie ‘Mathilukalkkappuram’.

Endhiran VS 3 Idiots Clash

In a time when there is the sensational news about the release of Endhiran, there is also sensational news about the Tamil remake of the Hindi film Three Idiots.

Vijay who was initially reluctant to act in this film decided to act after he came to know that director K Shankar would be directing this film. Now it is confirmed that Vijay would do the role which Amir Khan did in the original version.

Normally Shankar films will have the music of A R Rahman but Anniyan had the music of Harris Jayaraj.

Now the news is that Yuvan Shankar Raja will be composing for this film. Apart from this Sathyaraj has also agreed to the professor role which Boman Irani did in Three Idiots.

This is the first time Shankar is directing a remake film. But now the question is who the three idiots are.

It is confirmed that Vijay is acting in Amir’s role. It is also being mentioned that Simbhu will be doing another role. But it is not known that who will do Madhavan role.

The official announcement of the Three Idiots remake will be made after the audio launch of Endhiran.

Anushka Has Signed A Movie With Ragava Lawrence

Anushka is the most wanted heroine of South Indian Cinema. Singam rocked the box office even as other straight Tamil films of hers bombed.

The glamour quotient of the heroine overtakes her acting quotient which is the reason for her success. All actresses who have reached top spots in Tamil Cinema followed this style and Anushka was well aware of it.

Often she accepts roles which have enough grains to ‘expose’ her acting talent. “Arunthadi” had one of such roles. The movie became a huge hit and pushed back even some big Telugu movies when it released. In Tamil also, the movie had done decent collections and exceeding the same was the publicity.

Anushka has now signed a movie with Ragava Lawrence and it is titled as “Kanchana”. Lawrence earlier gave “Muni” with Rajkiran playing a ghost role. The comical-thriller genre of the movie brought out the director in Lawrence. So we may expect “Kanchana” to be similar to “Muni” and “Arunthadhi”.

Enthiran Could Have Been Titled As Alien

Some magic is recreated, some remade, some enjoyed and some despised even if it is reminiscent of something that felt so good. With ‘Enthiran’, we cannot say how it will turn out to be. Yesterday, we saw two lines of a promotional intro song for ‘Enthiran’ audio launch. Today, we have got a scene to describe. Let us see how the scene goes:

Remember, Rajnikanth’s catching butterfly running around in his underpants for Meena? On similar lines, Rajnikanth goes all out to catch a mosquito that has bitten his beauty he is smitten with – Aishwarya Rai. The mosquito flies around and sits between two other mosquitoes. The lead mosquito (?!?) narrates (?!?) the event to the two other mosquitoes.

Rajni pleads the two mosquitoes to send the lead mosquito with him for which the mosquitoes say, “We will send Ramasamy (The mosquito?) along with you, only if you swear that you will not use ‘Tortoise’ Mosquito Coils and other mosquito repellants.”

We do not know how the CGI will turn out to be but all we know is Rajnikanth would have done well in the scene, as he is well known as a good actor. Yesterday, a popular National News Channel (CNN IBN) quipped after seeing the first posters of Enthiran, “Going by the looks and the hairdos, Enthiran could have been titled as ‘Alien”

But the mosquito scene is highly imaginative! Highly, we mean!

Veteran actor Prakash Raj acquired the Tamil remake rights for Telugu film ‘Prasthanam’.

The film ‘Prasthanam’ is directed by Deva Katta and Devakatta tweeted today saying, “It’s official now:

Prakash Raj gaaru to remake Prasthanam in Tamil under his esteemed Duet films banner.

I wish him to score a blockbuster.”

Prabhu Deva has booked Shruthi Hassan to pair with Jeyam Ravi for the movie that he is going to direct.

Trisha Upset With Her Bollywood Debut

The much-awaited Hindi film debut of actress Trisha has almost fallen flat. The film, which pairs her up opposite Bollywood’s Akshay Kumar, has opened to a not-so-exciting response among Hindi audiences.

Taran Adarsh, a noted film critic has opined that the south Indian star’s inability to speak in Hindi in the film might work against her.

He also feels that Trisha is not good enough in emotional sequences. Trisha plays a Municipal Commissioner in the film. The role needs a strong body language but the pretty lass couldn’t live up to the expectations, says Adarsh.

That Trisha has stayed away from the promotional campaign has also gone against her.

Priyadarshan’s reputation as a mass director hasn’t been proved this tie around.

Sivaji Ganesan's Pudhiya Paravai Re-Released

Sivaji Ganesan is one of the legends of Tamil cinema and was a superstar during his lifetime.

Last week, his sons leading producer Ram Kumar and actor Prabhu have re-released their father’s 1964 classic Pudhiya Paravai at the family owned Shanthi theatre on Mount Road in the heart of Chennai.

Prabhu in an interview said: “We screened Pudhiya Paravai, because of the demands from fans to mark his 9th death anniversary. The negatives of the film were cleaned up at a lab exclusively for this screening”

Pudhiya Paravai has taken a very good re-release opening at Shanthi. Remember in the 60’s, all the Sivaji Ganesan films were released at Shanthi, Crown, Bhuveneswari in Madras.

However in the case of Pudhiya Paravai it could not be released at Shanthi as Raj Kapoor’s eternal and evergreen hit Sangam was going full house. The film was released at Paragon theatre, which no longer exists.

Salman Khan Has Gifted Asin A Costly House And Car

It seems the intimacy between Salman Khan-Asin has intensified during the shooting in Sri Lanka. There is news that both are meeting in secrecy and nurturing their love. Asin who reached great heights because of the success of the Hindi film Ghajini became the most wanted heroine of the Bollywood.

Most of the top heroes wanted to pair with her. But at this juncture , the film London Dreams in which Asin paired with Salman Khan was utter flop. This flop made Asin the most unwanted girl. She was supposed to pair with John Abraham in the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kaaka Kaaka. John Abraham was supposed to don the role that Surya did and Asin was supposed to don the role of Jyothika.

Since Asin failed in London Dreams she was ousted out of the film. Similarly she was also supposed to act in the film Silence. She was relieved from this film. Priyanka Chopra was signed in place of Asin. Because of this Asin was depressed. Salman Khan boldly signed Asin to pair with him in the Hindi film Ready. Because of this Asin has got a special affection towards Salman Khan.

That is the reason Asin has become more intimate with Salman Khan. There was also rumors earlier that romance had already blossomed between the two in the sets of London Dreams. It seems that Salman Khan has gifted Asin a costly house and car. But of them are refusing this news.

Tamannah Not Encourage The Paalaabhishekam

After Trisha, Namitha and Ileana, it’s the turn of Tamannah, Kollywood’s current heartthrob whose popularity is soaring so high that cinema buffs of Thoothukudi district have started a fan club. They have also given her the title Thangapadhumai or golden girl.

They say it is a Head Fan Club called Agila Indhiya Thangapadhumai Tamannah Rasigar Narpani Mandram and more branches will be formed in future.

Fans have reportedly erected 50-feet cut-outs of Tamannah at the entrance to the theatre where her latest film Paiyaa is showing and also performed Paalaabhishekam which is synonymous only with big male stars.

When contacted, Tamannah said, “Fans are very important to me. I am not aware of this club which has been formed, but in any case I am really touched by their gesture. But I do not encourage the Paalaabhishekam as it is a ritual meant for God.”

Kavya Madhavan's Divorce Case In Court

Remember the pretty Kavya Madhavan, who has starred in Tamil in films like ‘Saadhu Mirandaal’, ‘Kaasi’, ‘En Mana Vaanil’, etc. An established actress in the Malayalam film industry, Kaavya got married to an NRI (Nishal) working in a private company in Kuwait in February, 2009. The marriage was an arranged one and the couple settled down in Kuwait after the marriage.

Within a few months into matrimony, the couple developed some ‘irreconcilable’ differences resulting in Kaavya returning to Kerala in the second half of 2009. She then started acting in Malayalam films and told media persons that she could no more hope to live together with her husband and told them a lot about his family.

Nishal then sent a legal notice to Kaavya asking her to tender a public apology for having given ‘false information’ to the media about him as well as his parents (Kaavya’s in-laws). In the meantime, Kaavya has filed a case with the Ernakulam Court seeking divorce from her husband.

In her petition, Kaavya has stated that she had been ‘physically and mentally tortured and harrassed’ by Nishal and his family in Kuwait and has added that she needed a divorce from Nishal. She has also requested the Court to initiate action against Nishal and his family for having ‘tortured’ her for a long time.

The case is coming up for hearing shortly.

Madhavan Doubting Trisha's Integrity And Character

The cast and crew of ‘Manmadhan Ambu’, directed by K. S. Ravikumar and starring Kamal Haasan, Madhavan, Trisha and Sangeetha in lead roles, have jus returned from their long shooting schedule in a luxury cruise floating in the waters of Mediterranean Sea off Spain in Europe.

Some time back, there were reports that Trisha got ‘lost’ in the luxury cruise and was only ‘spotted’ by the crew members after a hectic search for her lasting more than a couple of hours. Reports also said that Trisha’s good-looking mother Uma Krishnan has agreed to play a small role in the film, probably at the behest of ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan, who asked her to give acting a ‘try’.

What about the story of the film? From ‘secret’ sources, we did manage to have a sniff at the script which goes like this: the title has two names of the characters in the film. One of them is Madanagopal (played by Madhavan) and the other is Ambujam (played by our own Trisha). Madhavan and Trisha play a married couple in the film with Maddy doubting his wife’s (Trisha) integrity and character.

Madanagopal seeks the help of a private detective (Kamal Haasan) asking him to tail his beautiful wife to find out whether she is cheating on him or not. In order to help out his client, the detective goes after his wife to check out her everyday activities. Actress Sangeetha, in a major breakthrough in her career, reportedly plays Kamal’s wife but the script is said to have more sequences involving Kamal and Trisha together on screen.

The duo even sings duet for an ‘imaginary’ sequence. Kamal is said to have sung for himself in the film, as he has done in innumerable number of his films earlier. The sources even revealed that in the climax, Madhavan and Trisha re-unite happily!

Vinaaithandi Varuvaaya Hindi Remake On Roll

While Gautam Menon’s Khakha Khakha is all set to be remade by some other director, Gautam himself is all set to remake his Tamil film Vinaaithandi Varuvaaya in Hindi and has signed Khatta Meetha fame actress Trisha in the lead role. Prateik will be playing the male lead.

Our source said, “Gautam has wanted to make a Hindi film for a long time now. After he made Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein nothing has worked out for him. He was to remake Khakha Khakha in Hindi but it didn’t work out and Nishikant Kamath is directing it now for Vipul Shah.

Shankar Announced 3 Idiots Remake

Some time back it was announced confirmly that ace director Shankar will be taking this remake project and making it in both Tamil and Telugu and it is going to be Shankar’s first remake project in his career. Soon after the release of his latest forthcoming flick ‘Endhiran’ starring Rajinikanth this remake project is likely to commence.

Now we have some interesting news before you. It’s regarding the cast and crew of this project. Ilayathalapathy Vijay has been confirmed for the role of Aamir Khan played in original. Then Madhavan has been chosen to do the same role again in this remake also what he did in original.

On the other hand, some buzz is also going on that Maddy is not interested to act for the same role in the remake again. And for the third hero role it is Simbu confirmed. Initially, Jeeva was thought of doing the third lead but now Simbu was confirmed by Shankar.

Amitabh Bachchan To Send A Message To Surya

Surya’s ‘Raktha Charithra’ is awaiting release and the Ram Gopal Varma film portrays Surya in a stunning character. Amitabh Bachchan who has seen a few scenes of the film was awestruck with the performance and screen presence of the South Indian Superstar Surya.

Suriya Jothika's Baby Naming Ceremony

The Suriya-Jothika couple’s first born is a daughter named Dhiya. It is said that the name was coined from Suriya and Jothika. Recently the couple had a baby boy and they have named it as Dev.

It seems their astrologer had instructed them to name the child with a name that begins with ‘D’. This naming ceremony was held at Suriya’s residence in T-Nagar.

Only a few close relations and friends were invited.

Endhiran Audio Rights Sold Out At A Whooping Price

Oscar Award winning music composer A R Rahman has proved his mettle once again because the audio rights of the film Endhiran has been sold out at a Whooping price.

The film which has Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles is being directed by Shankar.

The audio CD of this film is being released by end of this month in a gargantuan function to be held at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Think Music has acquired the audio rights for this film. The audio rights have been sold out for Rs 7 Crores.

This is the first time in the history of cinema that a audio right for a Tamil cinema has been sold out for this price.

Karunanidhi To Record His Voice For Endhiran

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaignar M Karunanidhi paid a surprise visit to his Kalaignar TV in Anna Arivalayam. The Chief Minister went to his Kalaignar TV Studio to record his voice for the launch of Endhiran’s music.

The Chief Minister’s message will be the greeting message for those who attend the Endhiran Audio Launch function in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There seems to be good enough reasons in the launch happening in Malaysia, preferably for the Tamil Diaspora to watch the film.

Prabhu Deva In Santosh Sivan’s Urumi

Choreographer turned actor and director Prabhu Deva has been roped into cinematographer turned director Santosh Sivan’s tri-lingual period film Urumi.

Urumi, with the tag line The Boy who wanted to kill Vasco da Gama is being made in Malayalam, Tamil and an abridged English version for an International market.

Prithviraj and Genelia are in the lead in this film made jointly by Prithviraj and Santosh Sivan under the banner of August Cinema.

Urumi is the 8-ft long flexible sword that has been used in Kalari fights for a long time. Sankar Ramakrishnan, who had directed the promising short film Island Express in the Kerala Café anthology, is writing the script.

The film, a bilingual, is set in the 15th century and will be made for the international audiences, informs Santhosh Sivan in his recent interview.

Prabhu Deva is said to be doing an important role in the film though his presence in the film is yet to be confirmed by the director.

Movie Review: Thillalangadi

The character of Jeyam Ravi, Tamannah and the portrayal are as such. Editor Mohan’s and Sun Pictures’ ‘Thillalangadi’ is a ‘Friday Morning Headache’ being an ostensible entertainer. Vadivelu does what he has done so far though he elicits some laughter in the boring two and a half hours. The film is, of course, lengthy but sans a three act structure – lacks any structure or the motive behind the actions.

Purposeless and meaningless, Thillalangadi might have worked in Telugu and gave some ‘kick’ to the audience but the Telugu Film Industry is adept at making commercial flicks than their Tamil counterparts. The word ‘Kick’ makes most of the dialogues of ‘Thilalangadi’ and is overdone for us to be bored.

Each one has his own ‘mind voice’. When thoughts are expected to be portrayed as scenes, they are spoken in this film. A lot of introspection happens within each of the character where they talk to themselves for most parts of the film. The way in which the scenes are shot makes you wonder if the director was displaying any little sincerity in shooting his (remade) script.

Jeyam Ravi becomes a caricature throughout, a lead character pathetic enough to be so. When Shankar’s and Rajnikanth’s ‘Sivaji’ was released, a popular journalist on a Television Channel noted that the film degraded human values and human characters turned mere cartoons. Jeyam Ravi does all that he can in such manner and becomes almost a clown, and to top it all, he dons the make-up of a clown to disguise himself – much like the famous mole putting one in guise which was spoofed by ‘Thamizhpadam’.

‘Jeyam’ Ravi does everything for ‘Kick’ and loves Tamannah for the same. He is naturally masochistic, wanting himself, to be overpowered by Tamannah’s ‘femdom’. Tamannah’s eyes are all comatose and she cannot act in any of her films. Often she finds someone to imitate with ‘Kareena Kapoor’ in ‘Kandaen Kadhalai’ and Santosh Subramaniam’s ‘Genelia’ in this film. The previous film of ‘Jeyam’ Raja and ‘Jeyam’ Ravi was sensible enough though being a remake.

With the kind of color psychology ‘Jeyam’ Raja is undergoing, it is possible to suppose that he is fascinated by the plush colors of the neighboring state, their films and their tastes. ‘Jeyam’ Raja might taste more success, if he migrates to the neighboring State though there is a catch – Remakes cannot happen in the same language. Even relatively to his previous remake hits, ‘Thilalangadi’ is the worst of them all.

Even if it is supposed to be a comedy feature, it is not so, but for the intermittently appearing Santhanam performing the best of them all, than even ‘Vadivelu’. The problem is not with Vadivelu but with the unimaginatively written sequences. Again, dialogues did not seem to be written ‘bound’ and characters were allowed to talk whatever they could.

Tamannah cannot claim ownership of the No.1 spot as heroine with her lackluster acting and paltry screen presence. It is surprising how producers flock to her knowing her woodenness as an actress. She has found it hard to even bring about a few tears in scenes that do not make you sympathize for her. Similarly, nothing is so much remembered as you leave the theaters. The problem with this film is that the audience is taken for granted and repeated promotions are expected to fetch the audience to the theaters.

‘Jeyam’ Ravi is not an actor without talent and finesse. He performs even a clown-like caricature with appropriate expressions. It is almost seven or so years, since he started acting. Maybe, it is time for him to exit his comfort zone and try acting in experimental features, simply as he ‘can’ do so. His brother ‘Jeyam’ Raja can simply put an end to directing ‘Jeyam’ Ravi’s films.

The whole film is strewn with characters that seem to have escaped from an asylum being both hysteric and schizophrenic talking unto themselves. Prabhu and Suhasini are out of sync as the father and mother of ‘Ravi’ and Suhasini evidently shows her dissatisfaction in playing the role of ‘Jeyam’ Ravi’s mother. Wasting screen time enormously, ‘Jeyam’ Ravi, ‘Tamannah’ and ‘Vadivelu’ go on blabbering scene by scene with no real sense and purpose.

Something creative could have been substituted in the time that these scenes take place. With nothing creative and being an unimaginative piece, the abrupt ending of the film makes you ask, “Where is the climax?” as the film has neither a villain nor a climax. To top all the absurdity, ‘Jeyam’ Ravi becomes a Police Officer at the end.

‘Shaam’ isn’t any threatening and his role is similar to ‘Prithvi Raj’s role in ‘Raavanan’. Here are a few of the Verbatim uttered by the characters unnecessarily at inappropriate places, “GAME START”, “PARTNER IN CRIME”. Oh thanks! It is altogether childish and is much like words used when kids play around.

However, ‘Jeyam Ravi’ displays appropriate acting and emotions, as he smiles when a girl child is saved from death. That point of the film strikes the right chord. It is at this point that we realize that films are about apt emotions aptly executed. Although the face of ‘Jeyam’ Ravi is hidden in revelations of him being a criminal, we already know that he is the ‘Robinhood’. That point of the film also generates some interest but it is soon put to an end.

Forget the music and songs of Yuvan Shankar Raja, as there is nothing at all to be mentioned. Cinematography is not noteworthy and Editing is a blatant blunder when the comical goons remove the gold chain from ‘Vadivelu’s neck. In the long shot, it is removed and is now in the hands of the goon and in the very next close range shot, the goon is still removing the chain. Laughing out loud, by the way!

Shriya Saran Strike The Audience With Glamour

Sexy queen of shapes, heart throbbing beauty of the glamour world Shriya has portrayed herself in a much ‘less expected’ role in “Cooking with Stella”. As with all her movies, one could hardly wait to see the beauty expose her shapes and strike the audience with wonder and glamour, but the hard part is that the movie doesn’t have any scenes as anticipated!

It’s almost a year since the movie is complete and waiting to be released. But no one seems to be interested. Producer Deepa Metha and her brother-director Ashok Metha are stricken by panic anticipating will they ever come out of this shock. Believe it or not no one, inclusive of Deepa’s regular buyers has offered to release the movie!

The duo planned to send the movie across for the film festival and later release it in India. Initially everything seemed to fall in place. But, the biggest storm swept in when the distributors refused to take up the film and go ahead in releasing it in India.

Hot Shirya and Deepa Metha, a combination that could bring in more glamour and an effervescence of the ‘basic instinct’ in every viewer couldn’t make it up the first time. Well known for her movie “FIRE”, Deepa Metha has ditched up the expectations of everyone around her, as the movie lacks any ‘most wanting’ scenes as demanded by the audience.

“Get something spicy and we will buy the movie.” Guess Deepa isn’t giving into these words. All she can say is, “I will never.”

Be it ‘Illaya Thalapathy’ or ‘Chinna Thalapathy’, heroes always want their titles to appear with their name in the title card of the film.

With ‘multi-starrer’ culture finding roots in Kollywood, the problem for the directors and the producers may start with the preparing of the title cards.

Vaanam’s hero Simbu is well known as ‘Little Superstar’, now ‘Young Superstar’ and all his films, even the ones he acted in his childhood, carried the title ‘Little Superstar’.

Bharath, the other hero in the movie is very clear to have his name shown as “‘Chinna Thalapathy’ Bharath” in the title.

Also, the actor has asked the director to display both his name and Simbu’s name simultaneously in the title. We have to wait and see what will be Simbu’s reaction to this petition by Bharath.

The actor, of late, has been getting requests from such serviceinstitutions to back them in their good deeds. And Simbu too has decided to support their cause and he will soon make an official announcement in this regard.

Meanwhile, while applying for the UK visa for the shoot of his forthcoming film Vaanam, Simbu was asked to write his name by expanding initials.

When he did so, one of the officials (who knows Tamil well) saw the actor’s full name Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendran, and suggested him he could henceforth change his name as STR, since it sounds like MGR and NTR.

The actor, who is aware that his achievements are so small when compared to that of the two great legends, is however happy with the new name and wants his fans and peers to call him that way in future.

Suhasini In Mani Ratnam Movie

Suhasini Mani Ratnam, who penned the dialogues for her husband’s dream project Raavanan, is all set to enthral movie buffs in her forthcoming project Ullam Thalladuthey.

The film revolves around an undefined mother-daughter relationship. It’s said to be an emotional journey of a widow, played by Suhasini, who braves all odds to bring up her daughter. But things take a different turn when a man enters her daughter’s life. She feels her daughter is emotionally distancing herself from her.

And when she finds that the man, whom her daughter has fallen for, is just a few years younger than her, she feels like the earth has given way under her feet!

While Vegam-fame Archana plays Suhasini’s daughter, Sivaji Rao plays the male lead. The highlight of the film is said to be the power-packed performance of Suhasini.

Sunil Kashyap, music director of the film, is said to have come up with some excellent numbers. The film, directed by Nagendra Kumar, is expected to hit the screens in August.

The hype about Endhiran’s music release is making news all over the world. HBO bagged the audio release rights of Endhiran a few days ago. Sun pictures, HBO and Shankar are planning to make the audio release a gala event.

They are roping in various artists and performers to perform on the release show. Now what we hear is, Silambarasan, the little superstar may give a performance during the audio release. This event will be a worldwide one and who would not want to be there?

Hence, Silambarasan was more than willing to join. The Malaysian audience will also be delighted to see the “Little” Superstar along with the “Real” Superstar.

Sanjay Dutt’s Lamhaa Will Banned In Tamilnadu

The Tamil cine world had earlier barred Tamil artistes from attending the Indian film festival in Srilanka. It also had requested the Hindi artistes not to partake in the festival.

While some of them including Amitabh Bachchan and his family obliged, others such as Salmaan Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, and Kareena Kapoor rejected its plea. In turn Tamil cine associations had imposed a ban on the movies of stars that rejected its plea.

Immediately, Hrithik Roshan’s Kites was barred from screening in Tamilnadu. However, Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Lamhaa’ is now being screened in Chennai. Surprisingly both Sanjay and Bipasha had attended the festival rejected by Tamil cine association. This has resulted in a gossip which says that the ban has been removed.

When asked about this one of the administrators of producers association said as follows: “Even while in production and much ahead of Srilankan festival, some of the distributers had bought a few movies.

Upon the request from film chamber in Hyderabad that the ban should not affect the distributers, we have allowed ‘Lamhaa’. Otherwise the ban is still in effect and we have instructed the distributors not to purchase the movies of stars that rejected our plea. Even if other states in South India relax the ban, we in Tamilnadu won’t,” said he.

Kamal is Manmadhan and Ambujam is Trisha who both would go on to make ‘Manmadhan Ambu’. Got the drift? But the story is different with Trisha not being paired opposite Kamal in this film as one would generally assume.

Endhiran Will Not Be Released As Per Schedule

It may be a disappointment for fans but we cannot say it is. However, it is just around ten more days from the scheduled release date. Shankar has mooted discussions for his next film, the remake of ‘3 idiots’ in both Tamil and Telugu.

The word came from the horse’s mouth that Endhiran will not be released as per schedule. Endhiran will be released on September 3 says Rajnikanth. Sources close to Shankar also suggest that Endhiran will be released on September 3.

Endhiran is a massive release across the world with native Chinese, Japanese and Singaporeans to watch the film. About 1500 prints are expected to be released while in India 800 prints will be released. In the Global release, China and Japan alone will have 120 prints released with another 160 prints for the entire glove. This is history to be happening from India as these many prints were never possible before.

Endhiran’s overseas rights were purchased by HBO and the audio launch is sure a tempting event to happen at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. We may be proud as one of the biggest releases in the world happens to be from India. Endhiran is a milestone in the Tamil Film Industry.

Actress Kutty Padmini Cheated By Rs 12 Lakh

The visit of film actor and TV producer ’Kutty’ Padmini to the City Police Commissionerate in Egmore on Wednesday created a flutter. But the Krishnadasi producer, who began her career in Kollywood as a child artiste, remained tight-lipped.

"I don’t want to say anything now. The police have advised me against it. I will discuss it with the media three or four days later," Kutty Padmini told.

Inquiries, however, revealed that she had lodged a complaint with the CoP against three of her former employees, Smera Srinivasan, Jambu and Vinod, accusing them of embezzlement to the tune of Rs 12 lakh. Smera had been with her for the last five years and the trio was looking after the accounts, sources said.

Recently, Kutty Padmini began to suspect them of siphoning off the company’s money by falsifying records. "They exaggerated the figures and pocketed the money," the sources said. The embezzlement, carried out over a period of time, amounted to about Rs 12 lakh, the complaint alleged.

The trio, who hailed from Kerala, stopped reporting for work and Padmini found that they had decamped with employee records and payment ledgers as well as copyright CDs belonging to her production house.

The sources said the actor’s reluctance to talk to the media stemmed from the fact that Smera had sent email to her, threatening to commit suicide if she approached the police.

Trisha's Fingers ’N’ Toes Crossed

Even as rumour mills continue to work overtime, churning out stories about how director Priyadarshan is miffed with his protégé Trisha for not allotting time to be part of the promotion of her debut Bollywood flick, Trisha has excitedly tweeted, “Off to Mumbai to promote (my film). Fingers ’n’ toes crossed.”

She has also requested her fans and friends to pray for her first Hindi release. “I’ve always believed in the power of prayer,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, the actress has just completed the first schedule of her Manmadhan Ambu. We hear that Trisha was extremely thrilled about working with Kamal Haasan and Madhavan (with whom she had earlier acted in Leysa Leysa), and that too, in a film directed by one of her favourite directors, K S Ravikumar.
