‘Isaignani’ Ilaiyaraaja, who has said more than once that he liked the script of ‘Uliyin Osai’ very much, reportedly expressed his opinion to Kalaignar that he wanted to produce his next film, to which Kalaignar immediately agreed. It is rumoured that Ilavenil, who directed ‘Uliyin Osai’, would direct the new film.
Unconfirmed reports say that ‘Maestro’ Ilaiyaraaja would be producing the next of Kalaginar, which would incidentally be the veteran politician’s 79th film as story-dialogue writer. Ilaiyaraaja had earlier scored the music to Kalaignar’s ‘Uliyin Osai’, which enjoyed a decent run at the box-office. The film’s story was a direct adaptation of the novel ‘Sarappallam Chamundi’ penned by Kalaignar.The new film is expected to be ‘different’ from the earlier movies which bore Kalaignar’s stamp in the form his story and screenplay writing. Ilavenil is said to be planning to bring to life many unforgettable characters from Kalaingar’s stories and plays. Music by the ‘Maestro’ would be one of the major pluses of the film, said to be based on the story of Kalaignar himself.
