Aishwarya Rai could not be seen in audio launch of ‘Raavan’ Tamil version

Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan could not be seen in the press meet held in Chennai yesterday to launch the audio of the Tamil version of Maniratnam’s ‘Raavan’ (in which she plays the heroine).

Maniratnam held the audio-launch of the Hindi version of ‘Raavan’ in a grand manner in Mumbai a fortnight back but he decided to have a press meet instead of the audio-launch for the Tamil version. It was said that Ash would take part in the press meet, for which the pressmen had been informed in advance that due to ‘security reasons’, photographers would have to remain content with shooting the star from as far as 55 feet and shouldn’t try to come closer. But everyone was disappointed not to have a glimpse of the beauty queen.

Meanwhile, some Tamil movements have been protesting outside Amitabh Bachchan’s (father-in-law of Aishwarya) Mumbai residence requesting him not to participate in the Hindi film awards function slated to be held in Colombo. Amitabh is learnt to have spoken to her about this and Ash chose to give the programme a slip and air-dashed to Cannes to attend the international film festival there.
