The 11th International Indian Films Award function was held in the capital city Colombo at Sri Lanka. The film Three Idiots which has Ameer Khan in the lead role bagged 8 awards. 8 awards are for the best picture, best director, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best villain and best song. Eight technical awards were also given for this film including best cinematography and screenplay. Out of the 27 awards, Three Idiots bagged 16 awards on the whole. Amitabh Bachchan was awarded the best actor award for the film Paa. The best actress went to Kareena Kapoor( Three Idiots) and Vidhya Balan ( Paa). The other awards are as under:

People of the Tamil film organization decided to boycott this function because of the thousands of innocent Tamil people were murdered in Sri Lanka. Because of this Bollywood super star Amitabh Bachchan who is also the brand ambassador of the Indian film academy. Similarly Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Sharukh Khan also did not participate in this function. Bollywood actors Salman Khan, Shatrughan Sinha, Oberoi, Govinda, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Bipasu Basu, Kareena Kapoor, Dia Mirza and Lara Dutta participated in this event.
