Actor Singamuthu arrested and remanded in judicial custody at the prison
Chennai City Police arrested Singamuthu after a complaint from Vadivelu's assistant that Singamuthu had abused him at Vadivelu's office earlier in the morning.
Singamuthu, who was booked under Sections 506 (II) (criminal intimidation), 294 (b) (abusing in filthy language) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code, was produced before a magistrate court in Saidapet. He was later remanded in judicial custody at the Puzhal prison.
Vadivelu had earlier accused Singamuthu of cheating him of several crores of rupees by forging property documents.
In the meantime, a press release said Vadivelu called on Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Saturday to seek his blessings for acting in Ilaignan, a film which has script by Karunanidhi.
