Superstar Rajni’s Fanfare In Chennai

Superstar Rajni’s fans are said to be somewhat ‘disturbed’ by their idol’s appeal asking them not to come to Chennai to attend the marriage of his younger daughter Soundary, held with much fanfare in Chennai last Friday (03rd October). Soundarya tied the nuptial knot with her industrialist beau Ashwin in a glittering function, attended by the who’s who of the entertainment industry and the political world.

In order to pacify the fans, the superstar is said to be planning to call them over to Chennai on a specific date and treat them to a sumptuous lunch or dinner. The much-awaited answer to the question of “will he or won’t he”, the issue surrounding the possible entry of Rajni in Tamil Nadu politics, would also be delivered to the fans on that day, it is said.

Rajni’s fans have long been urging him to take to politics and the persuasion has been continuing through letters, e-mail messages and in person. A couple of years ago, when ‘Enthiran: The Robot’ was launched, Rajni had assured them that he would ‘discuss’ the issue with them and arrive at a decision after the release of the film.

Now that ‘Enthiran’ is releasing this month, the superstar is arranging a meeting of his fans as per his promise them. On the occasion, Rajni would also be arranging for a sumptuous lunch/dinner for them. With the announcement of the meeting, Rajni’s fans have become tense than ever, now that their Thalaivar would be making a ‘final’ decision.

In an interview to media-persons in Tirupathi a couple of days ago, Rajni had said that the time was ‘not ripe’ for him to speak about politics. It is reported that with this backdrop, one can only conclude that the most successful star in the history of Indian films, might want to ‘estimate’ the strength of his fans before taking a final decision in the near future.

Rajni wants the meeting to be a very grand affair, something unprecedented, just like the marriage of his daughter. He is also very keen to ensure that the traffic flow in the city is not disturbed by his fans. Therefore, he might be meeting his fans in batches in two or three cities or more. The cities would be Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli, it is said.

Rajni himself would be making a formal announcement about these meeting at the function to be held today in Chennai to ‘release the trailer’ of his ‘Enthiran: The Robot’. It’s significant that Rajni, who always invites only the office-bearers of his fans clubs, has chose to invite all the fans to these meetings this time!
