  • Raavanan, in hindsight, is a dull film that had nothing much to show except for the extraneous ideals. Both Raavan and Raavanan had something for the movie buffs who seemed to like the film though they do not consider the film as closer to Mani Ratnam’s standards.

However, in the US, Raavanan and Raavan did well. Similarly, Venice Film Festival has sought to honor Raavanan and Raavan, the entire team and Mani Ratnam. The Jaeger-LeCoultre honor will be conferred on Mani Ratnam as part of the Filmmaker Award. This is the 67th Venice Film Festival which will be held on September 6, 2010.

Both Raavan and Raavanan have secured only the out of competition space and will be screened at the 67th Venice Film Festival. Marco Muller is in praise of Mani Ratnam who confers the honor on Mani Ratnam, as he is the director of the film festival.

He says, “We are very proud to honor the work of the great Indian director Mani Ratnam. He is one of the greatest innovators in contemporary Indian cinema and helped introduce the auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood.”

Mani Ratnam, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan will all be participating in the Venice Film Festival.
