Actress Kushboo was no pressure on her to join the ruling DMK

Kushboo clarified that there was no pressure on her to join the ruling DMK. Speaking to reporters after joining the DMK in the presence of Chief Minister and party president M Karunanidhi in Chennai, she said, 'there is no question of pressure in joining the DMK'.

The actress said she was attracted by the DMK's ideologies and its commitment to women's empowerment. Denying that she had said that she would be joining the Congress, Kushboo said after the Supreme Court judgment (quashing cases against her) she had only said she was attracted by the various welfare measures implemented by the Congress.

'My idealogies like women empowerment are also pursued by the DMK. My ideals matched with the ideals of DMK', she added. 'What I wanted to do...they (the DMK) are already doing. So I thought it is best for me to join the DMK,' she said, denying that she had received any feelers from the Congress.
