The 60th Birthday Of Actor Vishnuvardhan

Large scale preparations are now going on to celebrate the 60th birthday of Kannada film industry's legendary actor Vishnuvardhan who breathed his last on December 30 last year.

Vibha Charitable Trust formed by Dr. Vishnuvardhan and his wife Ms. Bharathi will be organising a Vishnuvardhan film festival for the benefit of fans. Twelve well known films will be screened during the festival, says Dr. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan who is holding reigns of the Vibha Charitable Trust. The function has been named as Simhavalokana film festival. Dr.Vishnuvardhan was called as Sahasa Simha (The lion of action) by his fans.

Simhavalokana will showcase 12 selected films of Dr. Vishnuvardhana on 17, 18, and 19 September 2010, at INOX, Garuda Mall, Magarath Road, Ashok Nagar, Bangalore. The film festival is conceptualized as a tribute to the legendary actor and to create an opportunity for his fans to see his classics once again. Talking to Sify Movies, Ms. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan said that the film festival will be inaugurated by Mrs. Nagalakshmi Puttanna Kangal on 17th September, a day prior to Vishnuvardhan's birthday.

Ms. Nagalakshmi is the wife of Puttanna Kanagal who directed Dr. Vishnuvardhan's first film Naagarahaavu. "Mr. AnanthKumar, the Member of Parliament from Bangalore South Constituency and Actress Ms. B.Saroja Devi have also confirmed their presence during the inaugural function", says Bharathi. Dr. Vishnuvardhan's classic films like Nagarahaavu, Bandhana, Suprabhatha, Laali, Muththina Haara, Bangarada Jinke, Yajamana, Karna, Diggajaru, Veerappa Naayaka, Malaya Maarutha and Simhadhriya Simha.

Mr. Shatrughan Sinha, MP and well-known actor of Bollywood has agreed to be the Chief Guest on the valedictory function on 19 September 2010. He will be accompanied by Mr. Ambrish and Ms. Sumalatha Ambrish. "Many actors and celebrities from the Kannada Film Industry who have a long association with Dr. Vishnuvardhana will watch the movies with the audience", added Ms. Bharathi. Actor Anirudhdh, son-in-law of Dr. Vishnuvardhan said that the Trust is making arrangements to make a special print of Naagarahaavu and arrange its screening in the Kapali theatre on the evening of 17th and 18th exclusively for fans.
