Aamer And Asif Dropped ICC Awards

Pakistan fast bowling duo of Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif who are alleged to have been involved in spot-fixing, has been dropped from the list of nominees for the ICC awards.

Aamer was one of the nominees for the ICC Emerging Player of the Year award and was favorite to bag the honour. However, all the three main accused Pakistani players have been suspended by the World cricket governing body in the wake of a spot-fixing scandal.

The ICC's press release stated that "in accordance with the provisions of the code, this means that they are immediately barred from participating in all cricket and related activities until the case has been concluded." An ICC official said their removal from the list could be confirmed by "reading between the lines".

"The pair's nominations have been withdrawn and the jury has been informed," an ICC spokesman confirmed to AFP without giving further details.
