  • Controversies surrounding the recently-held International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Colombo refuse to die. Earlier, the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) decided to boycott films of Bollywood stars who chose to attend the programme.

SIFCC wanted the venue to be shifted out of Sri Lanka, following allegations of genocide against Lankan Tamils during the war against the LTTE and the continuing discrimination against them.

Hrithik Roshan's Kites has become the first casualty to the faceoff. The film has been taken off from all theatres in Tamil Nadu. Now Surya-Vivek Oberoi starrer Rakta Charitra is also in the same deep trouble. Reportedly the movie will not be screened in all the 5 Southern states as Vivek Oberoi, who openly criticised the decision of FEFSI, plays a prominent role in the film.
